Speed Hound Performance Recovery Boots Review
THOMAS: Who doesn’t like a massage after a tough workout? Unfortunately, not all of us have a massage therapist at our beck and call. I keep calling Robbe after my long runs, but he’s always “busy.”
I use a three-part solution to have an at-home recovery spa, start with a percussion massager, soak in Epsom salt baths, and relax in recovery boots. I use these tools to prevent injury, and I double down when injured. Today we are focusing on recovery boots. They aren’t cheap because there’s a price to pay if you want to look like a Transformer lounging on the couch watching Transformers. The good news is that it’s well worth the price tag, and it’s still a hell out of a lot cheaper than Normatec.
I have been using recovery sleeves for over two years now. They work, and here is why. Recovery sleeves apply pressure to your legs in zones. As the air is pumped into a segment of a sleeve, it pushes the blood, lactic acid, or anything else pumping through your tissues out. Once the pressure is off, everything flows back in. The sleeves segments are split between feet, calves, knees, and thighs. Alternating the pressure determines where the blood will flow.
There are two modes, A and B. “A” mode inflates one segment at a time progressively, while “B” inflates progressively until all sections are inflated. Like I mentioned above, the sensation is like getting a massage. You can actually feel the blood rush. After going through a cycle, my legs feel relaxed and refreshed. You can adjust the pressure and the amount of time you want for the session. I’m a sadist and go top pressure for max time, in “B” mode for 30 min. The timer is in 10-minute increments (10, 20, 30), so if you’re pinched for time, you can shorten the recovery cycle.
Speed Hound’s design is clean and easy to use. The medical-grade materials give me confidence the recovery system will hold up. With a price tag of $745, you might be gun shy but fear not. Not only will Speed Hound let you try the device for 45 days, they have a two-year warranty on the whole enchilada.

I use Speed Hound for over a year now and would recommend it. I noticed legs recover faster after I use is and at night time I don’t feel that much pain after hard workouts (running or cycling).
