The North Face debuts its most breathable waterproof jacket with the HyperAir™ GTX® Jacket
With a permanent beading surface that shakes dry, the HyperAir GTX® Jacket offers protection in the wettest weather
Alameda, Calif. – Dec. 1, 2015 – Approaching its 50th year as a world leader in outdoor equipment, apparel, and footwear, The North Face today announced the HyperAir GTX® Jacket utilizing new GORE-TEX® Active for the most breathable waterproof jacket The North Face has ever created.
Designed for bone-dry protection while running or training outdoors in the wettest weather, the HyperAir GTX® Jacket with new GORE-TEX® Active features an outer surface that permanently repels water.
The material’s permanent water beading surface eliminates the need for a face fabric, which makes it the lightest and most breathable GORE-TEX® product. This revolutionary material combined with the unique construction of the HyperAir GTX® Jacket allows for increased breathability, reduced sweat accumulation and faster release of moisture to avoid the clammy discomfort of wet fabric.
“We are always searching for and developing the most innovative materials to build products that keep our athletes and customers warmer and drier so they can be outside longer, and we have never seen anything that performs like GORE-TEX® Active,” said Vice President, Global Product Joe Vernachio. “We have rigorously tested the new HyperAir GTX® Jacket both in the labs and with our athletes in the field, and it has registered off the charts in terms of breathability and packability. The HyperAir GTX® Jacket will help our athletes stay more weatherproof than ever.”
The waterproof and windproof HyperAir GTX® Jacket features an extremely lightweight Gore micro grid backer (patent pending) next to skin to keep weight low and wearing comfort high. Because of the permanent beading surface the outside of the garment shakes dry, there is no chilling effect in the rain from a wetted out face fabric.
The North Face HyperAir GTX® Jacket ($249 US MSRP) will be available in The North Face and REI stores, and online at www.thenorthface.com beginning Dec. 15.
