Ora Primo, a slip-on mule combining road, trail, and recovery elements
Insulated puff upper, soft knit collar, round elastic lace system, rubber outsole
December 14 for $120
Hoka has made its name on taking cushion and comfort to their limits. Whether it’s the max cushion Bondi or the Ora recovery slide, staying in the safe zone is the preferred path when wearing their shoes. Bigger is mostly better, and nothing says that more than the all-new Hoka Ora Primo, a recovery mule that blends trail aesthetics with streetwear versatility, wrapped in a whole “ain’t no shame in staying home” vibe. It’s everything all at once.
No detail has been overlooked in the Ora Primo, from the soft knit collar to the elastic lace system to the insulated puff upper. The design looks like an amplified version of both the original Hoka Ora mule and the Teva ReEmber, which makes sense since both slip-ons come out of the Deckers X Lab innovation department. And, as High Snobiety pointed out, there’s definitely a nod to the KidSuper Suicoke mule from last year, most notably in the chunky lace styling.
This is the the most premium slip-on from Hoka, following the Restore TC and the original Hoka Ora (both were ‘meh’, in my opinion) and I gotta say– it looks like this one actually had a lot of thought put into it. I’m a sucker for crossovers, and the way the Ora Primo combines the road/home/trail (the running equivalent of “live laugh love”) into a holy trinity of versatility hits me right in the sweet spot. The protective toe bumper, zig-zag stitch detail and reflective branding on both the bird logo and lace loop are all nice touches.
And while the shoe doesn’t have a Vibram-level outsole like many of the shoes in Hoka’s 2024 trail line, it’s at least made of 30% recycled rubber. Which means that yes, you can wear this outside, whether that’s on a city sidewalk or around the campsite.
The Hoka Ora Primo will release in three colorways: vanilla, black, and forest floor. It will be available on December 15, 2023, for $120.
