Introduction to the Thule Urban Glide 2

MELISSA: It was a joy to be able to run through pregnancy, so you can imagine how excited I was to continue sharing miles with my little girl once she joined me earthside. I had the pleasure of testing one of the best running strollers out there, the Thule Urban Glide 2. To say that I’m impressed is an understatement. Let’s dive right in.

What we like about the Thule Urban Glide 2

MELISSA: Both the unboxing and setup processes were super easy. I just popped the wheels on, inflated them, adjusted the handle, and voila — We were ready to roll, or should I say stroll.

Urban Glide 2 lives up to its name in that it seriously glides over pavement. I was pleasantly surprised by how weightless and smooth this stroller felt. It was easy to push one-handed, leaving my other arm available to swing freely. I would definitely recommend locking the front wheel if you plan to jog or run. Otherwise, the stroller will want to go in every direction possible besides straight ahead. Despite the locked front wheel, I found it was still easy to turn and maneuver. This stroller comes with rubber wheels and a quality suspension system, making the ride really smooth for tiny passengers.

This stroller comes with an array of features:

  • An adjustable canopy with built-in ventilation and a viewing window with an open/close flap to check on your little one.
  • Adjustable reclining infant/child seat, so your baby or child can transition from a seated position to lying down.
  • Multiple storage pocket options, including two side pockets by the child seat, as well as a large storage bin underneath the seat.
  • Easy folding for storage and transport.
  • A transition seat for when your child outgrows the original seat and straps.
  • Safety strap and handbrake on the handlebar. The handlebar also adjusts to accommodate different user heights.

It also comes with optional add-ons that are available for purchase:

  • Infant inlay for smaller, younger passengers. I really appreciated this option, as it made for a safer and more comfortable experience for my little one. I started running with her when she was still a bit small for the straps- the inlay added extra cushioning and made sure that the straps stayed in the right place.
  • Ventilated black mesh cover — I found this to be really useful for protecting my little one from direct sunlight as well as the occasional branch or bush, all while ensuring proper ventilation and airflow.
  • Plastic weather cover — I have not purchased this yet, but I plan to in case we encounter high winds or rain.

Thule Urban Glide 2 has everything I’m looking for in a stroller. It’s easy to use and oh-so light. At times, it feels like it’s propelling itself forward and hardly needs additional pushing. This stroller is extremely easy to maneuver and provides a very comfortable ride for the tiny passenger, making the running and napping combo a breeze. I have not yet been able to test this on trails, but I am really looking forward to doing so once my little one’s neck gets a bit stronger.

What we don’t like about the Thule Urban Glide 2

MELISSA: The Thule Urban Glide 2 comes with a hefty price tag. However, if you plan to use it often, then it’s worth every penny. You’ll also get many years of use, as this stroller will transition as your baby grows.

Also, I haven’t yet been able to fully test this, but I worry about the underseat storage bin creating a low clearance for the stroller. It looks like it’s more likely to get stuck on a large root or rock. Also, I wish there was a way to keep the viewing window flap open — I did find a way to roll up the fabric and tuck it, but it wouldn’t stay for long and needed constant readjusting.

Thule Urban Glide 2 Conclusion

MELISSA: The Thule Urban Glide 2 is a fantastic running stroller and likely the best in its class. You can really feel the difference. If you plan to log many miles with a stroller, then consider investing in one of these bad boys. You will not regret it.
