October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Battle breast cancer by buying shoes with boobs- it’s that simple
Adidas will donate $15 from each full-price sale to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc
Available for a limited time through the end of October
In case you’re colorblind to the color pink or have been living in a cave for the last twenty years, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s something that’s important to us here at Believe in the Run in a personal way, which is why we’re huge supporters of The Donna Marathon, which– through the Donna Foundation– provides support and financial assistance to those living with breast cancer. Through our semi-annual GRIT events, we’ve been able to donate tens of thousands of dollars to The Donna Foundation, because the fight never ends.
Turns out, Adidas is doing their share as well, as they’ve teamed up with the National Breast Cancer Foundation this October to make a tangible difference in the battle against breast cancer. With the release of the new breast cancer awareness collection, $15 from each sale is set to be donated to breast cancer research.
A new color palette coupled with meaningful action is most definitely a win in our book, but it’s also an amazing testament to survivors and their families. The shoes also feature prominent breast illustrations created by Adidas pro mountain biker Veronique Sandler, designed to represent the comfort that those with breast cancer have experienced in the outdoors.
“My mom had breast cancer,” explains adidas Five Ten Senior Product Manager Bike; Global Brand Comms, Social Media Manager, Luke Hontz. “She is fortunate to have come through it. I’ve wanted to do something to raise awareness of the disease and to help support individuals and their friends and families who are impacted. Working on this collection is a passion project. I’m grateful adidas gave me the chance to get it off the ground. I hope our efforts can make a difference in people’s lives.”
If you’re due for a pair of hiking, running, biking, or lifestyle shoes and want to do some good, you’ll definitely need to check out this launch.
Shop The CollectionThe collection features a range of pink-hued Adidas footwear for running, hiking, and mountain biking in addition to apparel. The products in the Breast Cancer Awareness Collection have been chosen specifically to help everyone, regardless of physical ability or condition, spend more time outdoors.
We’ll see new colorways launch in the Terrex Free Hiker, an all-terrain hiking shoe that offers grip and a responsive, padded midsole, the aggressive Terrex Agravic Ultra trail-running shoe, the fan-favorite Ultraboost runner, as well as the Five Ten Freerider Pro, designed for a MTB ride over almost any terrain.
Beyond just footwear, the collection includes the Five Ten Fleece Jacket and Jersey designed to aid temperature regulation when mountain biking in variable conditions, as well as a windproof and water-repellent Terrex Trail Wind Jacket which, on cooler outings, can be layered over the Terrex Agravic T-shirt.
Shop The CollectionWhile we weren’t initially feeling the sketch-esque breast design that we see across the footwear range, it had us thinking: If this is a series intended to spread awareness and drive conversation, it definitely does the job. Subtle enough for everyday wear, yet noticeable when given a second glance, these new colorways are a small tribute to the battle many women– and men, endure during their battles with breast cancer.
We can never say no to a new colorway, but it certainly means a lot more when it’s tied to a good cause. With products available over a range of price points, there’s room for everyone to find a way to support and help raise awareness this October.
Available to AdiClub members now, the collection will be available for purchase in limited quantities until the end of October 2022. You can also learn more about the ongoing efforts of the National Breast Cancer Foundation here.
