RENALDO: This is only my second Skechers review, but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen from the brand so far. Now we have the Skechers GoRun Ride 10, another neutral trainer to pair with the Razor Excess 2. It’s a lightweight and well-cushioned workhorse with all the bells and whistles Skechers loves to provide its runners. I enjoyed my first few miles out of the gate, so let’s get to the nitty and the gritty.
JAYTON: Growing up, the only people who wore Skechers were old folks and babies who rocked the light-up versions. Of course, those days are behind us, but truth be told, I didn’t love the GoRun Ride 10 the first time I saw it. The Navy upper combined with the electric green midsole felt like something a middle school boy would be all over. Either that or an absolute Seahawks fanatic.
At first glance, it looked like a slower version of the Razor Excess 2. Sure, that’s a shoe I was pleasantly surprised by, but I figured there was no way Skechers could do it twice, right? When I stepped into this GoRun Ride 10, I realized it was time to eat my words.
RYAN: I was going to lead this review off, right up there at the top. However, my experience in the Skechers GoRun Ride 10 and the thoughts of my fellow runners have changed my mind. Instead, I’ll go last, much like Kate McKinnon in the beloved SNL Close Encounter series. I loved that series, and comparing my thoughts with Renaldo and Jayton makes me feel like Ms. Rafferty, McKinnon’s character.
If you haven’t seen the short, shame on you. It’s one of the best SNL sketches from the past few years, right up there with Diner Lobster. Anyway, the gist is that aliens abduct McKinnon, Cecily Strong, and Ryan Gosling, and they’re discussing their experiences with NSA agents. Strong and Gosling have what could be described as a blissful encounter, full of comfort and love, while Kate McKinnon got… something else. I got the something else, in this case.
Still, Skechers used to be for old people and babies, but now they’re cool. Alright, let’s get on with it.
RENALDO: I won’t lie, where I grew up, if you were ever caught wearing Skechers back in the day, you may as well strut yourself down to the local courthouse and change your identity. They were those shoes. Now, after running a few miles in these babies, I can literally feel the running prestige of Skechers flowing up my legs. On the first step-in, I immediately noticed a certain no-nonsense feeling that made me think the Skechers pros had a heavy hand in the development. As the official training shoe for Edward Cheserek, I have no doubt that was the case.
The Skechers ArchFit insole is in full effect here, providing an added comfort when laying some miles down in the shoe. Combine that with the HyperBurst midsole foam and MStrike technology, and you’ve got a ride that I’d dare say you can’t find anywhere else. Seriously, I ran a half-marathon for fun on my second wear of this shoe. Goodyear Rubber is back again as a nearly bulletproof outsole. It’s the real cherry on top (or bottom?) of the total package here. That Goodyear slab gives you the traction you need to take corners, the traction you need for the good pavement pushin’, and the durability to keep coming back for more.
The Skechers GoRun Ride 10 is extremely light, coming in at 8.4oz for a US M9. The upper that caps it off looks like an older, more sophisticated cousin to the Razor Excess 2 (I love that green midsole, fight me, Jayton). This will certainly be in my rotation for a long, long time.
JAYTON: Holy mackerel, the HyperBurst midsole cushioning is a dream underfoot. Robbe has said that no one does supercritical foam quite like Skechers, and he’s right. I’ve put over 50 miles on my pair, and there are zero signs of the foam compressing any time soon. Maybe my initial expectations were too low because I feel like this upper is something special. It’s breathable and pliable, but it feels very durable and practical. Also, the monochromatic pattern on the upper adds a bit of lowkey pizzazz.
The Skechers GoRun Ride 10 is very similar to the Razor 2, which I liked, but the Ride 10 brings all of the elements together just about right. The shoe’s stack height is 28mm-34mm, which gives us a 6mm drop — right there in my sweet spot.
I’ve been running on concrete and asphalt for most of my mileage on this shoe, and the Goodyear rubber outsole holds up well. It’s grippy as all get out, I mean, it’s Goodyear. Enough said. The most impressive thing is the amount of rubber Skechers put on the bottom without ballooning beyond the average running shoe weight.
RYAN: While I’m generally gonna be the vinegar to Renaldo and Jayton’s cotton candy, there were some things I liked about the GoRun Ride 10. The Goodyear rubber is top-notch, and it will last on the shoe much longer than I do. I had no issues with grip in any weather, and the shoes don’t squeak nearly as much as others I’ve run in.
Skechers also gets top marks for its HyperBurst foam. It’s one of the best Supercritical foams in the game, and I felt like it wanted to push me into going faster. I don’t mind a little kick of unexpected speed, but the rest of the Ride struggled to keep up in my case, let’s get to the bad.

I’ve preferred to run more on my toes recently, and the ride of the GoRun Ride 10 can get a little squirrely when trying to up the tempo. Feeling the shoe wobble a bit when pushing off with my forefoot isn’t a great feeling. It’s something to watch for all of our forefoot fiends out there. Use as directed, make the most out of the easy miles with the HyperBurst foam and the MStrike, and leave it in neutral y’all.
JAYTON: The upper is so pliable and breathable that it doesn’t have a fantastic lockdown around the foot. The tongue and lacing system are the same as the Razor 2, so I just want more security when going through corners. Honestly, if you have narrow feet, you might be swimming in this shoe.
Alright, back to the colorway. I know this is all personal preference, but it’s a good thing I enjoy the performance of this shoe. Unless I was a Seahawk fan, I’m not sure I would be excited to lace this one up. It’s just dancing on the line of bold and dull, so overall, the colorway is a miss for me.
RYAN: As you could probably guess, this is where Skechers left me with my “coot-coot and prune chute” hangin’ out, to borrow a phrase from Ms. Rafferty. Renaldo and Jayton had relatively little to complain about, but I feel like I’ve had some parts batted around a bit too much.
The upper is literally impossible to keep in place. You can tighten down a UFO-sized load of lace loops, but it doesn’t change that the structured toe has more room than the Pentagon. I’ve got rubs on the insides of both big toes, and it’s not from my socks, that’s for sure.
Also, the colorway. I was cool with the colorway I got for the Skechers MaxRoad 5 last summer, but we’ve taken a step back. The dark blue and neon green is a little too much contrast for my liking. When the GoRun Ride 10 showed up, I texted Robbe that it looked radioactive and not really in a good way. Blue and green are great together, but not quite like this.
My final issue comes with the Skechers MStrike technology. It’s supposed to help encourage you to strike at your midfoot, but some of us ain’t made that way. I’ll never say that my form is great, obviously, but you’d expect a neutral trainer to be, well, neutral. Instead, it felt like I was running with a lump under the middle of my foot, which threw off my rhythm. This part has gotten better as I’ve added up the miles, but it didn’t leave a great early impression.

I can see why pros like Meb and Edward Cheserek trust Skechers to keep them fit and healthy for so long. Considering all the extras you get with the Skechers GoRun Ride 10 at only $125, I highly recommend it as the go-to trainer for long runs. It’s kinda like a less boring Brooks Glycerin 20. All in all, great shoe, Skechers.
JAYTON: Skechers has another hit in my book with the Ride 10 and absolutely changed how I see the brand. Overall, I’d sum this shoe up with the word “practical.” It’s durable, comfortable, and affordable, and I’m looking forward to spending many more miles on this shoe.
RYAN: This is probably where you expect me to contradict Renaldo and Jayton again. Honestly, it would fit my review so far. However, I don’t think the Skechers GoRun Ride 10 is a truly bad shoe. It has great cushioning and an outsole that won’t quit. If you’re a midfoot striker, you’ll probably love it. At $125, it’s tough to find a better price-per-mile ratio (that’s not a real thing).
Who knows, maybe you’ll love it — or maybe you’ll end up like me, joining Kate McKinnon on her post-SNL UFO.
