I really appreciate the show. Feathers has me eating carbs, drinking salt, and running great.
I don’t disagree with the concerns expressed about Ozempic. However, my view is shaped by the fact that I recently lost 55 pounds as a side effect of taking a drug that is not a GLP-1. I can’t begin to describe how transformative losing that much weight is. Forget vanity and athletic performance. I was able to stop taking medications for high blood pressure, cholesterol, ADHD, gout, and heartburn. After losing all that weight, a DEXA scan confirms that my bone density is great and I have as much lean muscle mass today, at 57, as I had when I graduated from college.
It’s true that Ozempic has side effects and is lining the pockets of pharmaceutical companies, and it’s appropriate to criticize it for that reason. But please don’t fail to mention that weight loss, with Ozempic or otherwise, brings enormous health benefits that can improve both quality of life and life expectancy.
In my case, I went from being sedentary and unable to run a mile to running over 40 miles last week. I can’t think of a greater gift.
Thanks for a great show.
Wow! Who knew being 50+ was considered being an “old lady”?
