Nike International running pack fuses design details from historic Nike running footwear into contemporary silhouettes
Vaporfly 4, Alphafly 3, Pegasus 41, and Vomero 18

Nike is returning to its roots with the International Running Pack, a collection that blends the brand’s historic running silhouettes with modern performance shoes. It’s not really a retro release but more like a DNA injection into the modern line.
With this, Nike is reframing its “super shoe” lineage as part of a longer narrative that started decades before carbon plates and Pebax foams. If the Vaporfly changed marathon racing, linking it back to Prefontaine makes it feel like a full-circle moment.

Nike Vaporfly 4
Each silhouette in the pack makes a clear case for continuity. The Vaporfly 4 references the Pre Montreal spike, a shoe tied to the rebellious spirit of Steve Prefontaine. The Alphafly 3 is reminiscent of the Sting, Nike’s early suede-and-nylon flat. The Pegasus 41 borrows from the Waffle Racer, while the Vomero 18 nods to the LD-1000, the brand’s original long-distance trainer.
Instead of leaning on nostalgia, Nike uses these references very smartly to frame its modern super shoes and everyday trainers as part of a longer-running story of technical progression.

The execution also matters to make these unique. Archival colorways and graphics are directly applied to the Vaporfly, Alphafly, and Pegasus through a new printing process, creating a sharper link between eras. The result is a collection where heritage design isn’t ornamental but built into the upper, shaping how the shoes are perceived both on the track and in the lifestyle space. The mix of racing silhouettes and everyday staples also signals Nike’s recognition that performance running culture now sits at the crossroads of fashion and sport.
If you squint, these colors also give some old Gyakusou vibes, mix that with the yellow faded soles and dirty-upper look, and you have a winning combo.

The pack extends into apparel, reworking Nike Running staples into a collection that makes the release feel holistic, giving runners not just shoes tied to a lineage but a uniform that reflects the same design logic. Nothing as special or groundbreaking as the shoes, but a nice touch to make it a complete collection, rather than just a random shoe drop.
The collection becomes available globally on September 10 through nike.com and select retail partners. A pre-release in Japan is set for September 5. Both footwear and apparel will be available as part of the drop.
