New Balance To Release “Moon Daze” Pack For Grey Day

If you’re from Ohio or Pittsburgh, “Grey Day” is essentially one long stretch from October to April, but if you’re from Boston, then Grey Day is May 12, a day to celebrate New Balance’s enduring legacy to the color grey.

Wide-foot fans know all about the 50 shades of grey, as their color wheel world looks much like Pleasantville or Wandavision or The Giver (minus the euthanasia). So while grey may be safe, it still remains secure. Especially as an icon of the athletic and fashion world, thanks largely in part to New Balance and its long legacy of cloudy colorways.

In the late 1970s, grey was originally borne as a solution for urban runners whose white shoes were getting destroyed by city conditions. The grey suede reinforced durability, matched the color of asphalt, and fit seamlessly into consumers’ lifestyle. It also goes well with anything, making it an incredibly versatile colorway that seamlessly spans the categories of running, lifestyle, and general athletic wear.

To celebrate this tradition, New Balance is offering several exclusive new products on Grey Day, including a bespoke “Moon Daze” collection that will include versions of four classic New Balance silhouettes: the 550, 580, 9060, and Fresh Foam x More Trail v3. New grey silhouettes will also be added to existing models, including the More v3 and will be featured in The Grey Shop on newbalance.com.

According to New Balance, “the Moon Daze collection draws inspiration from the future and prompts us to think further beyond our world, begging the question: What would shoes look like after walking on another planet?”

Well, the moon is not a planet, so let’s just go with it’s a grey pair of shoes, and it’s not that deep.

A Made in USA capsule will also include the 990v4, 990v6, 996, and 998 in grey hues aimed at telling a story of heritage and representing New Balance’s devotion to craftsmanship. 

New Balance brand will also launch a curated shop of existing grey footwear and apparel on newbalance.com.

The Grey Day collections will be available on NewBalance.com starting May 12 with prices ranging from $130 to $170 USD for the inline collection and prices ranging from $190 to $220 USD for the Made in USA collection.
