Kiprun Comes Ashore

One of the more exciting brands on the global stage is finally coming to the United States.

Kiprun, a running brand spun off under French sporting goods retailer Decathlon, is officially launching here in April 2026.

The launch lineup will consist of three models: Kipride Max, Kipstorm Elite, and Kipsummit Max. All models were tested in France through a variety of terrain, from the world-renowned trails of Chamonix (home to UTMB) to the roads of Lille. They’ve been worn on the feet of elite athletes like Blandine L’Hirondel and Jimmy Gressier, who broke the 5K European record earlier this year in another Kiprun model.

Kipstorm Elite

$250

Weight

7.4 oz. (210 g) for a US M9

Stack Height

37 mm in the heel, 32 mm in the forefoot (5 mm drop)

Key Features

Ultralight and propulsive construction to deliver increased running economy

We’ve already seen the ultralight Kipstorm Lab, the record-breaking, $350 race day shoe featuring a J-shaped carbon fiber plate. The Kipstorm Elite is the standard half marathon to marathon racer from the brand, which is still very light and comes with its own carbon fiber plate. At 37 mm in the heel, it’s slightly lower than the legal limits from World Athletics, but looks to provide all the energy return and comfort found in its competition (e.g. Nike Vaporfly 4, New Balance SC Elite v5, Brooks Hyperion Elite 4 PB, etc.).

kiprun - KIPRIDE max MEN

Kipride Max

$160

Weight

10 oz. (283 g) for a US M9

Stack Height

42 mm in the heel, 36 mm in the forefoot (6 mm drop)

Key Features

A blend of underfoot foam to deliver maximum comfort on the road

This is the max cushion version of their daily trainer, featuring a blend of underfoot foam for ultimate comfort. Ideally used for recovery runs or long runs (though it can be used every day if you want), this shoe will stack up against shoes like the New Balance 1080, Brooks Glycerin Max, or Nike Vomero Plus.

kiprun - KIPSUMMIT max men

Kipsummit Max

$150

Weight

9.8 oz. (277 g) for a US M9

Stack Height

39 mm in the heel, 33 mm in the forefoot (6 mm drop)

Key Features

Max cushioning, protection, and traction for comfortable runs in varied terrain

Finally, there’s the Kipsummit Max, a trail running shoe with max cushioning and protection, designed for long distances on varied terrain. It’s Kiprun’s premium trail shoe, offering a full Vibram outsole for the best traction on the trails. At under 10 ounces, it’s still relatively light for everything it offers, and is looking to go head-to-head against some of the best shoes in the business, from the La Sportiva Prodigio Max to The North Face Vectiv Enduris. That said, it’s much more reasonably priced at only $150.

Looking Forward

The running shoe space is getting unbelievably crowded and 2026 hasn’t even started. That said, Kiprun has the weight of Decathlon behind it, and it appears they’re coming out swinging with a tight structure of solid running shoes to meet any runner’s needs. It’ll be interesting to see how they’re received in the U.S.; luckily the shoes look great, the design is on point, and they’re leaning into the right materials. The price points aren’t too bad either, coming at or below the current market.

Of course, we’ll be reviewing all of these models, so come back and check out our thoughts after running in the shoes for a variety of miles and terrain.

Starting in April 2026, consumers in the U.S. can purchase KIPRUN shoes online at
www.kiprun.com or through specialty run retailers, including Running Warehouse and Run Moore.
