ColdGear Infrared EVO Fitted Leggings Review

I have used Under Armour ColdGear tights since I started running in tights. They are no frill tights, no pockets, no ankle zippers, just a warm tight that fits great for those sub 40º F days. I saw the new ColdGear Infrared EVO Fitted Leggings at the Under Armour store in Harbor East Baltimore and wanted to give them a try. They are not cheap at $59.99, but my ColdGear tights have lasted for for several running seasons. So I ponied up the coin to give these a go.

The Good

The tights are lighter and thinner fabric than the original Under Armour ColdGear tights, at first this had me worried that they would not be as warm. The technology behind the gear works. Under Armour states “The stealth pattern inside is the secret to warmth.” “Ceramic material innovation controls the temperature between your gear & your skin.” “Soft, thermo-conductive coating absorbs & retains your own body heat.” I wore the tights on days where the temps were in the 20’s and my legs were comfortable for the hours I was out on the road. The elastic waistband is really comfortable. On the old tights the stitched label could cause chafing, that problem is solved in the Infrared leggings.

The Bad

The fit for a medium seemed slightly less tight below the calves. Other than that the only other thing that sorta bothers me is the contrast stitching which makes them look a little like long underwear.

Conclusion

I made a good purchase with the leggings. Hopefully they will last as long as my other Under Armour tights.
