Mount to Coast athlete Matthis Granet set a new 48-hour elevation gain world record
24,759 meters of ascent
Mount to Coast x BITR H1

It’s one thing to design a running shoe. It’s another thing to actually see it on someone’s foot. It’s entirely different to see it written into the history books. And yet, that’s what happened when Mount to Coast athlete Matthis Granet finished setting the 48-hour elevation gain world record last weekend. He traversed an almost unimaginable 24,579 meters of ascent in the French Alps, and he crossed the finish line with the Mount to Coast H1 on his feet.
Not just any Mount to Coast H1, though — the Believe in the Run version. Yes, really, the one Thomas helped design. That’s pretty neat.
We, of course, can’t take anything away from Matthis himself, having covered the same stretch of ground nearly 360 times en route to smashing the record by more than 700 meters. That said, we’d sure like to think the H1’s gaiter upper helped keep his ankle in place and free of debris during the least comfortable part of the climb. And, again, it’s an honor to see your hard work trusted as someone attempts something that’s never been done before.

While we can’t sit here and tell you that the Mount to Coast x BITR H1 will also make you go out and set the ascent record, we can’t say it won’t, either. It’ll come with a pretty good chance of you wanting to get outside and explore beyond your usual roads, and we’re willing to bet you’ll look pretty good while doing so.
We can also guarantee that the CircleCell midsole is Mount to Coast’s softest platform to date and that the sock-like upper will keep out more dirt and debris than the original H1, which is always welcome. While you’re at it, you can pick up a pair of BITR x Swiftwick socks, which were colored to match the H1 perfectly. It’s all about looking good and running good, and now there’s a world record to back that up. Need we say more?
