In running, there are a few things that feel like Christmas morning. One is, of course, Christmas morning. Another, though, is any time Nike puts out an official teaser for its next generation of racing shoes. Some are partial to the Vaporfly — the OG of the supershoe world, if you will — while others live and die by the Alphafly, a racing monster that’s often been imitated but never quite replicated.

Today is Christmas morning. Well, not literally, unless you’re still reading this in December, but it sure feels like a holiday now that Nike has officially acknowledged its latest batch of prototypes. It means that yes, it’s declaring that the blacked-out (or whited-out) shoe that you’ve seen on the feet of everyone from Grant Fisher to Mary Ngugi-Cooper to our own Meaghan Murray is finally ready to break cover. At least, it’s almost ready.

Now, Nike doesn’t give much away in its small (but growing) teaser gallery — no names, no specs, no nothing aside from the outsole footprint — but it promises that more information is coming soon. Along with that, it promises that the Swoosh has multiple prototypes approved by World Athletics for further testing, so maybe you’ll see more than one racing shoe hit the shelves in the coming months.
