Here’s where to find some of the best gear out there that doesn’t make it into reviews
Because we’ve been wearing it all the time this past month
Anything from running to hanging out to livin’ the good life
We get a lot of gear to review here at Believe in the Run. Sometimes we get a whole seasonal collection to review, but more often than not, we get a bunch of items meant for different purposes. Some nutrition here, a couple hats there, tack on some casual pants and maybe some socks.
If you’re like us, you probably don’t want to read a review about just one pair of socks, or a backpack, or whatever. But if we’re using something all the time– if it’s become part of our running life– we want you to know. That’s where this monthly roundup comes in.
Each month, we give you a list of items that we really, truly love. Everything on this list is something we keep coming back to again and again. Maybe it’s the fit, maybe it’s the performance, maybe it’s just something we can’t explain. But at the end of the day, we love it, and we hope you do too.
Of course, we’re always looking for new gear to fall in love with, so if you have any recommendations yourself, please leave them in the comments below.

Sometimes, running gear isn’t for running. While Path Projects makes clothing for running, the shacket is run-adjacent. It can be a piece left in the car for an aprés run or thrown on to elevate your classic t-shirt and jeans look. This thing can replace a sweater, sweatshirt, shirt, and jacket with function and timeless style.

I’m the person wearing shorts until it’s nearly 20 degrees, but my hands are another story. If the temps drop below 50, I’ve got gloves on. The new Firecracker Reflective gloves from Oiselle are pretty perfect for cold-but-not-too-cold days. The thumb and index fingers are tech-friendly, so you can change songs or message someone without having to remove them. They’re designed with a reflective print, too, so you won’t be missed on those dark early morning runs.
Robbe’s Pick #1
Finally, a fill jacket that actually looks cool. The unique design is the starting point, but it all comes full circle with surprising warmth in a lightweight package thanks to the PrimaLoft insulation. It easily stacks up with Patagonia or The North Face jackets priced much higher, and it’s made with 70% recycled materials.
Thomas’s Pick #2
I shake up RNWY Complete Protein after almost every run or workout. The secret sauce in this protein is the addition of Creatine. Getting enough protein is crucial to maintaining muscle. I use the chocolate flavor to make it feel like I’m getting a little treat.

Shoe brands rarely get apparel right, but I’ve come to love the RC shorts from New Balance. The internal brief is extremely soft and light, so there are no issues with chafing. There’s an external zippered pocket and two internal drop-in pockets so you can stash nutrition, keys, or credit cards. They’re finished off with an elastic waistband and adjustable drawstring to get a snug fit. I just wore them for the NYC Marathon, and they were absolutely perfect.
Robbe’s Pick #2
There are certain pieces of clothing that when you get them, you’re like, “Oh, yeah, this is legitimately a great piece of apparel.” So it is with the Mountain Crew, a relaxed fit and soft stretch sweater made of 60% alpaca wool and 15% Merino, which means it’s temperature regulating, moisture-wicking, and built for any adventure. It’s also signed inside by the Peruvian woman who made it, which is a really meaningful touch to a piece of clothing you’ll probably own for the rest of your life. Also, this is just an excellent company with great values that’s making a real-world impact, so you should support them.
Ryan’s Pick #1
Whenever I’m not running, I like to moonlight as an avid boulderer, so I was already familiar with Boot Bananas. After all, when you’re working out in tight-fitting leather shoes without socks, your feet are gonna build up some sweat (and stank). So, when Robbe asked if I wanted a pair of odor-killing bananas, of course the answer was yes. The lavender-scented yellow inserts even brown as they age, making it incredibly easy to know when to replace them.
Ryan’s Pick #2
Alright, so it might be a little late in the season for a light windbreaker, but somehow, it’s still around 70 degrees here in the Mid-Atlantic. So, when Robbe asked if I wanted Saysky’s Clean Pace Jacket, I jumped at the chance. It’s just the right size for me, with sleeves that sit naturally as if they were tailored that way. The ripstop nylon material that Saysky chose also feels like pretty much nothing against my skin, which is great for moving quickly on chillier days.

As the founder of Believe in the Run, Thomas’s goal is to help runners pick the shoes and gear that will make their running experience the best that it can be.
More from ThomasMeaghan signed up for her first marathon three weeks before the race, because it was $10 more than the half she planned to run. She learned everything in running the hard way. Now a USATF & UESCA certified run coach, she loves encouraging friends to go for big goals as she continues to chase faster times. She enjoys a hot cup of coffee, a cold martini, and making bagels for friends and family.

When he’s not running or editing, Ryan writes and reviews for Android Authority, spending time with the latest tech and complaining when things don’t work quite right. If he’s not doing any of that, maybe you’ll find him nose-deep in a crossword puzzle or trying to catch up on an endless backlog of shows to stream.
