Under Armour Charge RC Running Shoe

After three years of making “running shoes” is Under Armour finally coming out with a shoe that brings something different to the table?  I confess I am from Charm City (Baltimore) the home of Under Armour.  I am rooting for these guys.  Up to the point I saw the video below I had written UA off as just not serious about their running shoes.  I dismissed their offerings as have many other serious runners.  I don’t know any runner who puts in 1,000 miles+ a year that owns one pair of UA running shoes.  I know quite a few runners too.  This past month alone, four runners that I have run with were featured in the pages of Runner’s World and Running Times.  It was one of those runners that pointed out the video below to me this morning.  Pete Larson is someone that is well considered an expert on minimal shoes and running.  When I get an email from Pete saying “check out this shoe”, I get excited.  Take a look at this video and you might too. *UNDER ARMOUR REMOVED THE VIDEO FROM YOUTUBE I WILL RE POST THE VIDEO WHEN IT BECOMES AVAILABLE AGAIN*

I think this looks like an amazing and unique approach to take in the minimal running category.  I haven’t tried the shoe yet but, I have high hopes that it will be the shoe that gets people to take Under Armour serious in the running shoe category.  It is going to be a part of the Spring 2012 collection.  Go Baltimore!

Hmmmm, interesting.  I would not have coupled Under Armour with shoes.  Very cool.

The toe box looks narrow, not in line with other minimalist shoes.  The segregated mesh looks good though.

UA needs a true minimal shoe with no heel to strike on.  I'm looking for a minimal shoe for jogging on the balls of my feet and sprinting.  Follow what the other guys are doing and make one!  Go UA, I'm a big fan and wear all UA gear at the gym and around town.

I just ordered a pair from Road Runner Sports and i will test them out. I wouldn't take UA as a serious running shoe, just like I don't think of Mizuno as "running"; they are baseball. When I saw the UA Charge RC video, I was intrigued. After testing out the new Brooks PureFlow, and not being satisfied, I thought why not try this one. Road Runner is good w/ taking shoes back after 90 days.
My current fav shoes for training and racing: Newton Running (all styles) and Saucony Kinvara. I am always looking for a new shoe to rotate.
