Yes, I said, beef bars. Kratos sent us four different beef bars in different flavors, Zesty Pepper, Ginger Wasabi, Original, Acai Berry.
Meaghan took one look at the bars and wasn’t going to have anything to do with the review. Some people are not adventurous. I like beef jerky and meat in general, so I was in for giving the bars a chance.
The Kratos beef bars are a satisfying snack. I am a savory guy, I like salt over sugar. When I get froyo, I go with salted caramel. Salt is the only white stuff I am addicted to. I was addicted to soap, but I am clean now. The beef bars are around 99 calories per bar, it is a perfect high protein mid afternoon snack. The taste is what I expected, the flavors weren’t drastically different from each other. If you forced me to chose a favorite, it’d have to be the Zesty Pepper. It is like an upscale Slim Jim without the outer skin. I avoided smelling the bars after Meaghan opened the first one and made comments and faces. The only thing that kinda had me a little weirded out about the bars was the oiliness. I don’t think these would work for fueling while running road races, but they could be good for an Ultra. If you like meat, give them a try.
Here is what is inside the Kratos Beef Bars:
