Hoka has teamed up with Swedish running label Unna to reimagine one of its most recognized trail shoes, the Speedgoat 2. The collaboration combines Hoka’s reputation for technical performance with Unna’s philosophy of movement as a means of personal growth. Instead of pushing competition or speed, the project leans into joy, rhythm, and the idea that running can evolve at each person’s pace.

Originally released in 2017, the Speedgoat 2 grabbed hearts with its maximal cushioning. For 2025, Hoka dug into its archives, not to evolve the model, but to tap into nostalgia and street style. Same geometry, same Vibram Megagrip outsole, same engineered mesh upper, and protective overlays. Even the original Hoka and Speedgoat logos return — part gorpcore, part trail cred.

Visually, the shoe walks a fine line between utilitarian and expressive, but most importantly, fun. Unna’s ethos of “Finish in a Good Place” appears directly across the toe boxes, while interactive elements such as detachable rubber caterpillars serve as both a playful nod to metamorphosis and a symbol of personal evolution, something every runner experiences. You can even say that it also links to the fact that once the caterpillar becomes a butterfly, it flies, just like Hoka’s slogan.
The shoe maintains its technical trail pedigree, cushioning, traction, and durability, while expanding into a more expressive visual language. Two colorways, Astral / Galaxy and Sea Ice / Cosmic Gray, complete the drop.

This collaboration continues Hoka’s run of significant partnerships in 2025, demonstrating that it can play with big fashion and foster new and exciting projects.
The Unna x Hoka Speedgoat 2 drops in limited quantities. It first hits unna.com and London’s Knees Up on September 12. A broader release through hoka.com and Dover Street Market follows on September 19. Retail is set at $170.
