A selection of my favorite Lululemon silhouettes
Tracksmith ditched my favorite shorts
$59-68, available now

MEAGHAN: Ever since Tracksmith discontinued — or rather, completely reimagined — my beloved Session Speed short, I’ve been on a mission to find a replacement. The criteria are specific: the shorts have to be comfortable, somewhat relaxed, lined, high-waisted, and have a 3-inch inseam. I know, I know. But when it comes to running shorts, I am unapologetically particular. We like what we like, and life is too short for shorts that don’t feel right. After testing what felt like half of Lululemon’s catalog, I landed on a few favorites, so here’s what you’ll find me wearing.
A quick note on sizing: Lululemon always runs a little strange for me. I’m typically a small or x-small — a 0-2 in most brands — but consistently find myself reaching for a 4 or 6 at Lululemon. For all the shorts featured here, I went with a size 4 (small).

These shorts check every box. They fit snug through the waist with just enough room through the thighs – no bunching, no riding up. The lightweight Swift fabric offers four-way stretch, sweat-wicking, and quick-dry technology, making it a go-to for sweaty summer runs. The high-rise waistband lies flat with zero chafing, and the continuous drawcord means you can get the fit exactly right. The built-in liner is a non-negotiable for me, and the side zip pocket is a great bonus for stashing keys or energy gels on the go. At 3 inches, the length hits the sweet spot. Easily one of my favorites.

I picked up a pair of these before the Boston Marathon and ended up wearing them on race day — safe to say they earned my trust. They appear to be Final Sale and on their way out, but from what I can tell, they’ve essentially been replaced by the Track That High-Rise Short listed above. So, everything I loved about these? You’ll find it there.

The Pace Rival High-Rise Short is a similar build to the Track That, with a few key differences. Also made from Lululemon’s lightweight Swift fabric, you still get four-way stretch, sweat-wicking, and quick-dry performance. The relaxed fit through the glutes and thighs gives you full freedom of movement, while angled split hems keep things from feeling restrictive mid-stride. The high-rise waistband is slightly slimmer but still comes with a drawcord to dial in your fit, plus a built-in brief liner for coverage. What sets these apart is how easily they transition off the run — they’re flattering, versatile, and just as at home grabbing coffee as they are logging miles. The perfect run-to-errand short.

If the Track That and Pace Rival are your classic running shorts, the Shake It Out is the fun one. Still built on Lululemon’s lightweight Swift fabric with four-way stretch, sweat-wicking, and quick-dry performance, but the 2.5-inch length and layered hem give it a fun, more fashion-forward look. The relaxed fit through the glutes and thighs mirrors the Pace Rival, and a high-rise waistband adds to the comfort. If I’m being honest, these shorts are usually kept for hanging out or walking the dog, but they’re cute and fun, so I kept them in this list.
