Ciele Releases Summer Nights Capsule, Joining Art and Apparel

Feel It All Around

Running is an artform. Sometimes it’s avant garde, sometimes it’s impressionism, sometimes it’s experiencing a renaissance (like right now). 

So it makes sense that Ciele would look to Portland-based artist Drew Tyndell to design their latest collection, the Summer Nights capsule. This limited-edition, seven-piece set features headwear and apparel featuring Tyndell’s bold, hand-drawn aesthetic.

Key pieces include the lightweight, quick-drying ATShort, the high-support QCKBra, the cropped, recycled-cotton ORTank, and new takes on Ciele headwear.

Known for experimental animations and music videos for artists like The Chemical Brothers, Beck, and Washed Out, Tyndell applies his aesthetic across innovative fabrics within the Ciele ecosystem, including FlexWeave, Coolmatic Plus, and both MikraMesh and VitalMesh. The art direction takes line work, gesture and brush strokes, and utilizes them to capture the energy and motion of summer in all its glory, bringing that spirit alive on the canvas of the apparel. 

We’ve always been big fans of Ciele here at BITR– their caps are the best in the business and they’re always trying new and exciting things within their apparel range, trying to push the envelope and test the boundaries of textiles and performance.

And while we’ve seen some collabs with other brands in the past (Puma, Tracksmith) that have been pretty cool, we’re a big fan of the artist-in-residence approach to design.

Standout pieces include the ORTShirt, a heavyweight recycled cotton tee featuring classic logos that give a nod to old skate tees from the ‘90s, as well as the ATShort, with a 5” inseam, self draining pocket, and a chlorine and salt water resistant fabric that essentially combines a run short with a swimming trunk. Women’s pieces include the ORTank Crop and the  ATShort in 4” length, as well as the QCKbra with Summer Nights brushstrokes.
