ALLISON: If you’re like me and followed along with Lululemon’s Further event last year, you were probably captivated not just by the incredible feat of ten women running for six days straight, but also by what they were wearing. I mean, isn’t that the point of these brand-backed showcases? Think Adidas’ Race for Records, Hoka’s Project Carbon X, or Nike’s Breaking 2 & Breaking 4 — they’re as much about performance as they are about product. I’d heard rumors that none of the gear from Further, including the shoes, would be made available to the public, so I was pleasantly surprised when some of it actually was.
I’m not entirely sure if the Wildfeel Trail shoe I’m reviewing was officially part of the event, but the colorway and design vibe match the rest of the Further line. And with the elite athletes involved, Lululemon would be crazy not to capitalize on their performance-tested expertise.

ALLISON: Oh my goodness, when I first put on the Lululemon Wildfeel Trail shoe, I had to double-check the label. I genuinely thought I was wearing the long-lost Hoka Speed Instinct, my all-time favorite trail shoe (RIP to that gem). That’s how surprisingly good this shoe felt straight out of the box.
The sock-like upper hugs the foot in a way that’s snug but never restrictive. It’s incredibly easy to slip on and lace up, none of that tug-and-strug you sometimes get with shoes that have a more rigid collar. I loved how quickly I could get out the door and onto the trails.

What really shocked me, though, was the weight. At 10 oz, I expected it to feel bulkier, but it didn’t at all. I was able to accelerate easily, even on more technical terrain, without feeling weighed down, a rare feat for shoes in this category.
I also appreciated the low-to-the-ground feel. It gave me a great connection to the trail and helped me feel more stable through uneven sections. My ankles felt supported and secure, which is key for avoiding rolled ankles when the terrain gets tricky or shoes get too thick, if you know what I’m saying.

ALLISON: I didn’t have much to complain about with the Wildfeel Trail shoe, which is saying a lot, considering I always find something. Overall, Lululemon did a solid job delivering a high-quality trail shoe that performs well across a variety of terrain.
That said, my biggest gripe is with the color choices. I’m just not a fan of Barbie pink, especially not for trail running. It feels a bit out of place when you’re surrounded by dirt, rocks, and nature. On top of that, the use of bright white on a trail shoe is baffling. White may look clean out of the box, but after one muddy run, that’s over. I’d love to see more earthy, practical tones in future colorways.
As for performance, my only real concern is breathability in the upper. It could use a bit more airflow, especially on hot runs. Also, the sock-like design, while comfortable, might allow debris to sneak in. If you’re running on extra dusty trails, I recommend pairing this shoe with a gaiter to protect your feet. Still, these issues are relatively minor, and the overall experience on the Wildfeel Trail was much better than expected.

ALLISON: As you can see from my review, I was genuinely impressed with the quality of Lululemon’s Wildfeel Trail, as it exceeded my expectations. If it can dial in the color options (sorry, Barbie pink) and improve breathability, other trail shoe brands will have to start paying attention.
