COURTNEY: The La Sportiva Helios 3 is perhaps one of the most underrated trail shoes I’ve come across. The Helios 3 is an exceptionally unique and enjoyable shoe that improves off its predecessors. I can’t compare it to any other trail runner, it’s that special.
COURTNEY: The Helios 3 is a neutral, low-profile shoe with a 4 mm drop. An injection-molded EVA midsole creates a sensationally soft and comfortable experience for how thin and lightweight (6.2 oz) this shoe is. The Frixion AT 2.0 rubber outsole has attractive ripple-patterned lugs that are durable and provide excellent traction on all terrain. Pavement, soft trail, hard trail, frozen trails, dusty trails, you name it. If you have to incorporate roads during your run to get to trails or to connect trails it’s a seamless and smooth transition.
La Sportiva added additional tongue and ankle padding and 3D foam padded inserts for all-day comfort. A HyDrain air mesh with rip-stop nylon upper ensures maximum breathability, quick draining and durability for the most rugged adventures.
The Helios 3 has a relatively narrow shape and heel cup but doesn’t compromise space in the toe box. While some may not be too excited about a narrow platform, I love the fit of this shoe.
