If you want to see a collab done right, look no further than Norda. The Canadian-based brand has been on a tear since it dropped the 001, teaming up with their Canuck comrades Ciele and out-there adventurer Ray Zahab for special colorways. Now, Satisfy is getting in on the fun. If you’ve been around a while, you know we love the peak quality that oozes from everything Satisfy touches, and Norda’s standards are second to none. All told, it sounds like a pretty good formula for a top-notch trail shoe.
Satisfy was drawn to work with Norda for its use of bio-based ultralight Dyneema, which is all but indestructible. In this version, the tough Dyneema is decked out in a Jadeite hue, which is somewhere between sage and mint. It rides on a familiar Vibram SLE foam with Litebase and a gum Megagrip outsole to trim weight without sacrificing grip.
The design is called Peace and Silence, and it’s inspired by the primordial hyperawareness that we achieve on long trail journeys. If you, like me, had to look those words up, it’s our caveman instinct kicking in. Basically, the shoe is inspired by our need to survive in wild conditions. Now that you mention it, it’s almost like the 001 was tailored for such an idea. Cavemen just didn’t have the same access to sweet colorways or running shoes as we do.
You’ll also find Peace and Silence branding throughout the shoe, on the lace aglets, along the tongue, and even in the form of Satisfy’s peace sign logo on the heel tab. Oh, and you get a white nylon shoe bag, which won’t stay white for long if you’re using the 001 to its fullest.
Of course, the Satisfy x Norda 001 comes at a cost. When two ultra-premium running brands get together, it shouldn’t be a surprise. It should set you back somewhere just shy of $300, but the 001 is tough as nails, and you should have no problem getting a mountain of miles in.
