Pathbreakers

PYNRS (pronounced pioneers) is a Boston-born performance streetwear brand founded in 2020 by Sidney Baptista, who built it out of the same ethos that shaped his PIONEERS Run Crew. PYNRS positions itself as the only Black-owned performance running brand in the global market, merging technical innovation with the lived experiences of diverse runners.

The brand’s DNA is rooted in three pillars: community-first design, cultural authenticity, and sustainable production, each ensuring that PYNRS isn’t just another label but a platform for representation and ownership in running culture.

The Fall/Winter 2025 Collection

This season, PYNRS is introducing 17 new pieces as part of their FW25 drop. The collection expands the brand’s focus on performance-driven streetwear, drawing inspiration from Black track icons like Florence Griffith-Joyner and Michael Johnson. Designed in collaboration with Boston studio Daughters & Sons, the range includes technical staples alongside “The Flex,” PYNRS’ first dedicated race-day kit. Engineered for speed and visibility, the kit reflects the belief that confidence and performance are directly linked.

Brooks x PYNRS Hyperion Max 3

Alongside the apparel, PYNRS is teaming with Brooks on a rework of the Hyperion Max 3, the lightweight, max cushion workhorse. (you can read our review of the Hyperion Max 3 here). For this special drop, Brooks introduces a PYNRS-specific colorway in Blanc, Acid Lime, and Blue. Built with DNA Gold and DNA Flash v2 cushioning, a SpeedVault plate, and RapidRoll rocker, the model covers everything. Design details like reflective overlays, speckled midsoles, and a custom sockliner reference the urban loops and neighborhoods that inspired Baptista’s community.

Release info and special events

The Brooks x PYNRS Hyperion Max 3 is available now, with events scheduled at CNCPTS Boston on October 2 and in Chicago on October 9.

Sidney Baptista frames the release as more than a product drop: “This collaboration is about amplifying the voices of diverse runners and local crews who’ve shaped running culture for years but haven’t always been seen on the global stage.”

For him, Brooks’ history of aligning with PYNRS’ values made them the right partner: “They were the only major brand to publicly support us when our crew faced police at the 2023 Boston Marathon. That meant a lot.”

Nice breakdown. Technical kit plus a clean Blanc/Acid Lime/Blue shoe story gives this FW25 release real range, from race day to everyday fits.
