DAVE: I’m not hip to massages, as they’ve never been part of my running/workout routine. But the few times I have indulged, they were extremely beneficial to my recovery process.
When I hopped off a curb wrong a few weeks ago, I suffered a decent calf strain. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect as I received the SKG F5 massage gun at my doorstep just in time to treat my leg. Needless to say, this thing worked its magic.
DAVE: The SKG F5 is pretty lightweight for a massage gun at 11 oz/312 g. Hell, that’s lighter than the New Balance Lerato. It’s extremely versatile in hand and I can work on all key areas and sore spots. It’s great for my shoulders and lower back after coaching all day, and great for anxiety relief when tension builds in your neck. Due to its lightweight design, this gun is great to travel with too.
The massage gun features three speeds that I refer to as slow, moderate, and hammer time. I prefer hammer time with about a 50% effort push into my muscles. The trigger works just like a pistol trigger, clicking for each level of speed.
The massager comes with three interchangeable heads of varying firmness. They work very well when used in a rotation throughout the day. Combined with the different speeds, you can really dial in your recovery with this gun.
As far as battery life is concerned, this one performs great. I haven’t needed to plug it in since its initial charge.
