Everyone loves a comfy fleece

There’s nothing like finishing an early Spring run and planting yourself at a coffee shop. That’s basically our morning ritual, whether we’re knocking out 10 miles at the Saturday Classic or checking off a workout before the sun is up. The thing is, though, the warmth we build up while running only lasts so long. Usually, by the time we actually have our coffee, our sweat is drying, and we’re getting a little chilly. That’s where Patagonia comes in.

Its Re-Tool Fleece is about as close as you can get to heaven — soft, high-pile, and available in several different cuts and colors. While we probably wouldn’t run in it, we’re more than happy to grab it as a layer as soon as we hit stop on our watches — and you might find that you agree. You may feel one way or another about hoods, snaps, and pockets, but Patagonia offers different versions of its Re-Tool to meet your needs.

And, as if you needed any further reason to shop, the entire Re-Tool lineup is on sale for the Spring.

The Everyday Zip-Up

Patagonia Re-Tool Jacket ($99, was $199)

Up first is Patagonia’s most straightforward silhouette. The Re-Tool Jacket (currently available in Men’s sizes only) is a no-frills zip-up with three zippered pockets and all the soft Re-Tool you could ask for. The Spandex binding around the collar and cuffs helps the jacket to maintain its shape, too — no slouchy collars here.

The Biggest Pocket Around

Patagonia Re-Tool Pullover ($94-$95, was $159-$189)

This time, I want you to take the Re-Tool jacket, stitch it halfway up, and then open the dual pockets to make one big old pouch. That’s basically the idea behind the pullover, making this a good pick for the pack rat in your life. If you need some zipped-down security, though, the Men’s version has a secure chest pocket to match its zipper closure, unlike the Women’s snaps.

Big Pocket, Extra Insulation

Patagonia Re-Tool Hybrid Pullover ($133, was $269)

Now this, this is the one for those who need some of everything. Patagonia’s Hybrid Pullover puts soft, high-pile fleece on top with ripstop for the bottom half, complete with PrimaLoft Gold insulation. Oh, and it brings back the chest pocket for this Women-only silhouette. Honestly, if we had to pick a favorite color out of the entire Re-Tool collection, you better believe we’re going with this Terrain Green.

Maybe There’s A Hood… Maybe Not

Patagonia Re-Tool Hybrid Jacket ($149-164, was $299-$329)

Alright, so you can also get your hybrid fix in jacket form, but it’s slightly less fun than the pullover. Yes, you still get PrimaLoft Gold insulation, and there’s still a chest pocket, but we found ourselves missing the kangaroo pocket right off the bat. This time, you’ll also have to choose between a hoodie and a collared design — men get one cut while the women get the other.

Because Noggins Need Love, Too

Patagonia Re-Tool Headband ($12, was $25)

Last but not least, let’s accessorize. Patagonia decided to shrink its soft, cozy fleece down into a headband, and it might be the one Re-Tool format worth running in. If not, you can totally hike in it or even swap out your sweaty headband for this fresh one once you reach the coffee shop.
