Lume Six offers five different colors

ALEX: To date, I have yet to find a sports bra that checks all of the bra boxes.

The bra boxes:

  • Breathable, wicking, fast-drying fabric.
  • Medium to high impact support.
  • Durable enough for daily wear.
  • Material that does not chafe. Anywhere.

I’m not asking for much, but sports bras up to this point have often failed me in at least one of these areas — often distracting me mid-run with chafing or general discomfort. It’s gotten so bad, in fact, that I’ve finished runs with a perfectly chafed outline of my bra. I’ve tried every cut, design, and brand, and pretty much all of them have fallen short.

I’ve resigned to a life of workarounds that include pre-taping problem areas with KT tape, slathering on ridiculous amounts of Body Glide, and using buffs, gloves, leaves, and other trail debris to stop the rubbing. Desperate times have called for desperate measures. Now, it’s time to give Lume Six a try.

Comfort as far as the eye can see

Alta Medium Impact Sports Bra

ALEX: The first thing I noticed about the Lume Six Alta was the lightweight fabric. The DreamSupport fabric on the front and single-layer FeatherAir fabric at the back combine to provide maximum support and breathability, and both fabrics are made from recycled materials.

The Alta comes in a lightly lined and also an unlined version, and I received the lightly lined version. In this case, the liner is super soft and thin, with no added bulk and super fast drying times.

The Alleviate straps lay flat against my skin, with no bunching, no extra straps or material, and no pressure points. Further, the Halo elastic band similarly lays flat and smooth against the skin. This is often the problem area for chafing for me. Combine that with the Streamline seams, and it all comes together to deliver the best feature of the Alta: no chafing. Anywhere. I wore the Alta for two weeks in a row on hot, humid runs and had zero issues.

The other thing I love about the Alta is that I can run, rinse, and repeat all week. The fabric doesn’t hold odor over time, and I can hit the shower post-run, rinse it off, and hang it to dry for the next day.

Lume Six offers inclusive, extended sizing (XS-3XL), so you can mix and match band and chest size and truly fine-tune your fit. I’ve found the Alta to fit true to size using the standard size chart listed on the website.

The Lume Six Alta Medium Impact bra has many well-deserved accolades, and I’m happy to add another. THANK YOU, Margaux Elliott, you thought of everything.
