District Vision x New Balance Hierro V8 limited-edition trail running shoe
December 3 at District Vision, December 12 at New Balance and wider release
It’s official, District Vision and New Balance are an item. This year alone, the duo released my favorite shoe collaboration, a reworked version of the FuelCell Supercomp Elite v4 that surprisingly didn’t sell out in minutes. Still, everyone keeps asking me: “What are those?”. To end the year with a bang, the two brands have added more fuel to their relational fire with the release of their last collaboration of 2024, the Hierro v8 trail shoe.
Everyone is running to the hills, including District Vision, who opted to work on a new terrain by choosing the Hierro v8 Trail silhouette. This new drop seamlessly blends technical trail running performance with mindful, design-forward aesthetics—a signature of both brands.
Known for merging running culture with thoughtful design, District Vision taps into its holistic approach inspired by Japanese culture; even the campaign shows wooden boxes crafted in Fukuyama. Meanwhile, New Balance brings its legacy of innovation and expertise in footwear, making this release a perfect drool to trail runners and style-conscious individuals alike.
The Hierro v8 is built for performance but doesn’t compromise on looks. The engineered mesh upper incorporates haptic print overlays and the iconic “N” logo, reinforced for durability at key points like the toe, heel, and eyelets. Beneath that, a dual-hardness Fresh Foam X midsole provides the cushioning needed for rugged trails, while a Vibram outsole ensures grip on any terrain. Co-branded elements like the oversized woven tongue tag and Japanese-inspired red dot on the “N” logo underscore the collaboration’s unique identity.
Sustainability takes center stage with this shoe. The upper material uses translucent ReGrind, a recycled compound derived from car tires and running shoe soles. The Vibram EcoStep Natural outsole incorporates over 90% petroleum-free materials, pushing the boundaries of eco-conscious design. Even the colorways, “Bone” and “Black,” feature naturally derived pigments—symbolic of District Vision’s mindful approach to design.
The official launch is on December 3 on District Vision, with a broader retailer release on December 12 on New Balance and within select retail locations.
This collaboration encapsulates running culture today—a mix of high-performance gear and meaningful design that resonates far beyond the trails. Whether chasing miles or adding to your rotation, the Hierro v8 delivers on all fronts.
