More updates from Frank as he makes his Journey with Matt Nelson running from DC to Boston. They are running to raise money for the victims of the Boston Marthon bombings. Take a minute and donate anything you can.
“104.8 miles DONE!! My combined time running is about 21 hours and I’m working on about 6 hours of sleep since Mon. I’ve been trying to figure out what day it is for the last 5 minutes and I just can’t think straight…but apparently I couldn’t think straight before, because I came up with this idea in the first place!!Ha Wow!
I wish I could say I had more of those inspirational moments during this last one, but the truth is I didn’t. It was just a massive struggle from the first step to the last! It was one of those dig DEEP days that you look back on with pride when it’s over…but when you’re in it, you just pray to God for the strength (and stubbornness) to somehow make it through, even though it seems inconceivable. Thats the hard part, to believe that what you think is impossible, IS possible…and to NOT QUIT and continue forward, dispute every fiber in your exhausted body and mind, trying to tell you the opposite!
That’s what we want Jeff Bauman and the Richard’s to know…and everyone for that matter…that just because you may not think its possible, it IS!! And as you wake up in the morning after a good night’s sleep, just think ol Matt will have been out there running all night!! (Or more likely I’LL be BACK out there AGAIN before you wake up!) And when you wake up and kiss your kids and walk around on capable legs, remember those luxuries are no longer available for the Richards and Jeff Bauman…and maybe you’ll be inspired to give a little to them!! Lets be thankful for what we have and help others…it will make you feel GOOD..trust me it will!” – Frank
“Just ran 16 miles with this maniac.. He’s an ultra marathoner raising money for the victims of the Boston bombings. He’s run 105 miles since Monday and has a lot more to go. Go to the link on my page to donate to give him some extra motivation. He’s going to need it. Thanks for a great experience and good luck frank!!!!! — with Frank Fumich.” – Brian MacNab
“More COOL stuff…first of all BIG shout out to the NJ cops (PA cops might want to take some lessons from them) who gave us an awesome escort last night, even playing music out of his cruiser!!ha crazy!!
And also we have Rick Baird who just flew in from Vegas (keep in mind I don’t even know Rick…just hooked up here on FB from Spartan page and he and his crew helped us raise a bunch of money and he offered to fly out and help!!) So anyway, Rick was trying to figure out how to meet up with us on the road, and a NJ cop friend Scott Macnab says to me “no problem, I’ll just send an unmarked over to the airport and snatch him up, and bring him to wherever you are!” BOOM, done!! WHAT?!!!!ha And then he calls me and says “oh yeah and if you get pulled over by the police, don’t worry, thats just us delivering your guy.” OMG, classic!! There’s more… Scott’s 20 year old son Brian Macnab runs up on us last night, introduces himself on the fly and hoofs it for 16 miles with us…while his mom Eileen Dugan Macnab drives 5 mph behind us in the police escort for 3 hours, until about 1am and then they drive an hour home!! Unbelievable! Of course I was in a world of HURT so my conversations skills were not up to par, but BIG THANKS to them!!
Also thanks to old HS buddy John King for showing up in Philly and running w us and also buddy Bryan Selm who showed up and ran all night, and thanks Kristin Selm Donnan for the watermelon! Everyone is coming together!!” – Frank
“My “shift” is coming up in about 15 minutes! I feel like it’s Groundhog Day around here! So it’s gonna be sunny, humid, and in the 90s…of course it is! My stomach just won’t get right, which is what’s scaring me the most right this minute! I’m pretty convinced that today is going to be the toughest day of my life!! I’m looking up at Mt. Everest right now, and I just gotta start clawing my sorry ass up that son-of-a bitch!!! Please keep me and all of us in your prayers!!” – Frank

Frank Fumich, Matt, Dennis Mondoro and the rest of the crew with them are in NY already! The photo of Frank below speaks volumes for the suffering they are going through, I think this is Frank’s fifth marathon since Tuesday morning.. please keep them in your thoughts and prayers and if you know runners on the route to Boston ask them to run a couple miles to them. They need the energy of strangers becoming friends in this epic journey.
The GEICO Gecko met up with Frank Fumich & Matt Nelson to help pay tribute at the 9/11 Memorial in NYC. Just another stop on the guys impressive #DC2BOS run.
