The Hoka Carbon X2 was one of our favorite non-racing plated shoes of 2021. This version isn’t much different underfoot, despite Hoka’s purported use of a new iteration of the midsole foam that is supposed to be slightly bouncier. An all-new knit upper replaces the mesh of the X2. Thomas and Robbe talk about the past and present of the shoe and come to the conclusion that we just need more miles in it. The real kicker is that this thing gained $20 in cost over last year’s version. Releases 4/1/2022 for $200.
