In what may be the cleanest thing to come across our plate in the last few months/years, Adidas just unveiled its second collaboration with the Tinman Elite running team.
With the World Championships coming up this July, in addition to a slew of other races, gold is the goal and the shoes reflect that inspiration. The collection consists of two top-tier racing shoes, the Tinman Elite Avanti TYO (the challenger to the Nike ZoomX Dragonfly and New Balance FuelCell X series), as well as our favorite tempo shoe of the last year, the Takumi Sen 8. Also included is an updated colorway of the SL20.3.
The striped gold accents against the clean white upper make this set sure to stand out amongst the crowd. Adorning the tongue is the Tinman dual-axe logo (representative of the ‘chop wood, carry water’ motto of the team), while the insoles come with bold Adizero and Tinman text.

No doubt the highlight of this pack is the Avanti TYO ($205), an all-gender racing shoe specifically tailored for speed, supporting athletes by making their impossible, possible. It features the top-tier Lightstrike Pro midsole foam featured in the premium Adidas racers like the Takumi Sen 8 and the Adios Pro 2, as well as a flexible mesh upper and refined ENERGYRODS providing a snappy, propulsive ride with high traction. The accompanying gold spikes gleam against the matte gold spike plate; a spike tool is included with the shoe.
That said, the Takumi Sen 8 ($170) takes one of our favorite shoes of the past year and turns it into an absolute drool-worthy work of art. Swear this colorway will shave 15 seconds per mile off your standard pace (*not backed by scientific data). The Lightstrike Pro is tuned perfectly in this shoe, while the EnergyRods provide a snappy and propulsive toe-off. Out of all the Adidas speed shoes, this one is our favorite, and at $170 for this limited edition colorway, it should be gone quickly.
