Summer Daze Pick: Chubbie’s Tiger Poses 5.5″ Shorts Review

You’ve probably heard or seen Chubbie’s come up in your Facebook or Instagram feed. Their ads are basically guys doing things you’d wish you were doing instead of sitting in your cubicle scrolling through social media. Think boating or post-cruise-bike lounging with a Modelo and lime.

Not exactly known for running, they do, however, have a line of sports shorts, and we wanted to see if we could believe in the run and the lounge. We asked them to send us a couple pairs of their Tiger Poses 5.5” compression shorts, a short designed to transition seamlessly between activity and lifestyle.

The Good

Right away, we loved that the inseam is a perfect length—juuuust short enough for running, but also juuuust long enough to wear in public. You *shouldn’t* worry about getting yelled at by some tough guy sitting at a stoplight in his pristine Ford Raptor.

And damn are these comfortable. The four-way stretch blend of polyester and spandex allows for a wide range of movement, including running. The inner liner ain’t your typical running compression liner—it’s silky smooth and luxurious, with a jungle floral pattern that pops all tropical-like (their other patterns are outstanding as well). I also loved the storage—a back zipper pocket provides security during a run, while the two side pockets are ideal for everyday activities. They’re perfect shorts for vacationing (picture yourself doing a mile or two morning run on the beach, then sitting down for brunch on the boardwalk).

They can also double as swim trunks in a pinch. We were late for a boat trip and I had no idea where my trunks were so I threw these on. They’re not super quick drying, but they work.

The Bad

My only minor complaint is that they sit somewhat low on the hips, but the capped flex drawstrings lock them down nicely.

Chubbie’s Tiger Poses Conclusion

I’ve already worn these almost every weekend in May; I just might have to pick up another pair to get me through ’til Labor Day. Don’t get caught wearing 3″ split shorts to brunch–you can pick these up for $64.50 using the shop link below, and use the code RUNNER10 for 10% off any purchase.
