Nike’s trail line has gone from an afterthought to perhaps the most stylish in the entire company in the last few years. Its Wildhorse 7 is one of our hands-down favorites, and the React midsole is excellent for comfort on the most unforgiving trails. The Wildhorse 7 may not be the lightest trail shoe around, but it’s built to last and looks darn good.

ASICS Gel-Kayano Lite

The ASICS Gel-Kayano Lite was one of the first shoes that made us realize ASICS had something new on the horizon. While it sports a familiar name, it packs a more comfortable ride, a trimmed-down weight, and an eco-friendly recycled upper. ASICS didn’t ditch the classic Kayano stability, it simply found a more comfortable way to experience it.

Saucony Ride 14

Last year’s Ride 13 was one of our sleeper favorites, and the Ride 14 made it even better. While some of the colors have been toned down, the PWRRUN sure hasn’t. The FORMFIT upper is back too, which offers ample room for thicker socks in cold weather. Saucony’s Ride 14 does fall on the firm side, but it’s a great value if you want a shoe that can mop up the miles.
